Jo Cook
Jo Cook is am a mixed media artist and sculptor based in Noosa Heads. Her life and art have been profoundly influenced by my upbringing and lengthy career in Speech Pathology. When she turned fifty, Jo decided to pursue her creative dreams.
Her primarily figurative works aim to evoke emotions and create conversations about the journey of women in our current society. Jo wants women to be heard and empowered to follow their own path. Her work and messaging continue to evolve across mediums.
The use of layering and symbols relating to self-actualisation and spirituality are paramount to Jo. Hand built ceramic pieces are assembled with recycled and upcycled items and colourfully painted and glazed. Recent ceramic works includes stylised marionettes that stand over 1.3m high with movable appendages.
In recent years Jo has entered art competitions and won prizes for 2 of her ceramic works. She have also been in a number of art exhibitions and am regularly involved in the very successful Noosa Open Studios arts trail.
