Fiona Chivers

Local Brisbane artist, Fiona Chivers, attended the Qld College of Art majoring in printmaking and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art

Her work is currently focused on contemporary landscape and seascape painting in acrylic. Fiona’s paintings are inspired by landscapes from within SE Queensland, particularly the coastal and hinterland areas around the Sunshine Coast, where natural formations of outcrops, eucalpt forests, beach and tidal areas provide inspiration along with the farmlands and fields of the district. Her work reflects the theme of a shared human experience of the Australian landscape, along with our associated memories of place.

Summer is a season we identify with as part of our Australian identity and reflects a time of holidays, trips to the beach, camping in the bush and getting out into the outdoors - a time of joy and connectiveness, in her work she captures this feeling through colour, texture line and pattern, using colour to define contours, structure and changing light. The forms and colours that she sees in the surrounding landscapes constantly inspiring to strive to convey that sense of place by capturing its fleeting magic.
