Artist Statement:

With a deep affection for the land around her, and the life that inhabits it, Cath Kerr's work is primarily focused onAustralian native flora and expressed in various derivations, from still life to abstraction.The raw beauty and indomitable spirit of these plants, thriving against all odds in our harsh climate, serve as primary inspiration. Each piece is a tribute to grit and resilience, reflecting the ability to flourish in unforgiving environments. Cath’s pieces have an open, progressive and quirky style that is influenced by her design career, and can involve the viewer participating in the outcome.“In my work, I aim to capture the interplay between fragility and endurance. I explore positive and negative space in a push and pull process, seeing the subject as shapes and form. These elements are integral to my work, as I separate and reassemble them to create new interpretations.”
