Chewton Cheetah

Every painting by LÄS-Misa Gelin begins with a story. A winding road discovered on a weekend adventure, an unexpected view from her van, a quiet moment shared with her faithful dog, or a memory that lingers long after the journey has ended. These experiences become the starting point for expressive contemporary landscapes that invite viewers to imagine their own stories within them. Driven by an insatiable curiosity for the world around her, Misa travels in search of places that spark connection, wonder and possibility. Her paintings are felt as much as they are seen, built through rich layers of colour, intuitive mark making and the beautifully worn brushes that have become an extension of her hand. Rather than documenting a place, she captures the feeling of discovering it for the very first time. A self confessed collector of texture, Misa is fascinated by weathered surfaces, shifting light and the small, easily overlooked details that give a landscape its character. She distils these observations into joyful contemporary paintings filled with movement, colour and imagination, encouraging viewers to slow down and notice the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary. Each work is completed with a carefully chosen title that becomes part of the story itself, offering a gentle starting point rather than a conclusion. Collectors are invited to bring their own memories, emotions and experiences to the painting, ensuring every connection is deeply personal. It is this combination of storytelling, expressive mark making and an adventurous spirit that has made Misa's work instantly recognisable and widely collected.
