This series of beach paintings is inspired by my time spent painting plein air on QLD and Nth NSW beaches. Fascinated by each beach’s unique colours, and the wildness that perseveres there, I return to paint these regions often. I endeavour to capture that moment where time slows, and you experience the island’s endless energy, and feel connected to something amazing. 

Based in Brisbane, Kate Marek is primarily a landscape oil painter, drawing inspiration from her travels around Australia where she paints en plein air. Kate is fascinated and endlessly excited by colour, its evocative power and painterly application.  She has been a practicing artist for over 20 years, with a background in visual arts, animation and teaching and has been a finalist and prize winner of multiple art awards. Her work is held in private collections worldwide.
