Caitlin Lever

  • A teacher by day, an artist in every spare moment. I grew up in Toowoomba, in a small house surrounded by beautiful gardens and nature. My childhood was filled with magic, creativity and art, fuelled by the passion and love from my parents. I have painted for as long as I can remember, and found a great love for vibrant yet realistic works. At 27, my journey as a graduate teacher led me to Rockhampton, where I immersed myself into my art more, to navigate the challenges of a new life away from everything familiar. The vibrant and intentional strokes of my artwork mirror the resilience and adaptability discovered through this transformative period.

My inspiration comes from the diverse beauty of native Australian flora and fauna, capturing the essence of my homeland, and my childhood. My mother would always draw out attention to the intricate detail of a flower or a feather or a bird or a bug, appreciating its beauty and uniqueness. Whether it's the vivid hues of native birds, the tranquility of seascapes, the vastness of landscapes, or memories from my travels across Australia, my creations are a reflection of the rich tapestry of our beautiful country.

As my art practice flourished in Rockhampton, I ventured beyond canvas to embrace something bigger. The walls of public amenities soon became my new canvas. By 2023, the exterior walls of the largest shopping center in Central Queensland proudly displayed my art, marking a significant milestone in my journey as an artist. My artworks, a testament to both

personal growth and a celebration of the vibrant beauty that surrounds us, invite viewers to join me on a visual exploration of life's diverse beauty.

  • Caitlin is an Australian artist and muralist who resides in Rockhampton, QLD. Originally from Toowoomba, Caitlin moved to central Queensland as part of her teaching journey. Her father was a teacher at St Ursula’s College where she attended high school, and it was here that her desire to be a teacher blossomed. She began teaching as a primary school teacher, teaching year 5 and 4 at a state school, but now teaches visual arts to The Rockhampton Grammar Primary School. She has plans to eventually move back to SEQ to be closer to family and friends, but for now, enjoys sharing her art with the community of Central Queensland.

At 15, Caitlin’s artwork was selected to be the cover of a local Toowoomba book titled “A Child’s View.” In both 2018 and 2019, Caitlin won People’s Choice for the youth section of the Queensland Regional Flying Art Awards, and won People’s Choice in the adult section of the same exhibition in 2021. She has had artworks featured in the Downland’s exhibition twice, and works featured in the Mission to Seafarers Maritime Exhibition in 2018 and 2019. In 2023, her artwork was selected to be a part of the Rockhampton Bayton Exhibition. In 2022, Caitlin began painting murals around Yeppoon. She has completed 3 public murals in Yeppoon, 1 in a local brewery, and two private murals - all while working full time as a primary teacher. Her greatest achievement was when she was involved in a mural project for Stocklands, Rockhampton, where two large 6m panels became her largest canvas to date. A kookaburra and pale-headed rosella stand proudly on this wall, and can be seen via the main road that passes through Rockhampton. Caitlin hopes to one day adorn the walls of Toowoomba with her art, featuring native flora and fauna that can be found in Toowoomba.
